As you might recall, back in mid-January, I curated and organized the second-annual World’s Fair Use Day conference here in Washington. For those of you who weren’t able to make it to the event, I’m happy to report that videos of all of the panels and keynotes are now up at wfud.info. Above, you’ll find embedded a clip of the fair use in hip-hop culture panel, which featured Kevin Driscoll, DJ Ripley and Das Racist. As expected, the panel was equal parts lolz and insight (also: I make a brief cameo, wherein I do my best Thurston Moore impression). Be sure to peep some of the other videos over at the WFUD site as well, including DJ /rupture’s incredible introduction to DJ culture (including a live performance), Ben Sisto’s illuminating lecture on copyright and visual art and Tim Hwang, Ben Huh and Kenyatta Cheese’s internet culture vs. copyright free-for-all. Big thanks to everyone who came to and helped out with the event!
