2008 in Travel

At some point last year, I came up with the idea to compile a list of cities where I had spent a significant amount of time in 2008. Shortly after coming up with this idea, I promptly forgot about it but luckily, my memory was jogged today by Mike Masnick, who recently made a similar post on his blog (which, incidentally, was inspired by a post made by another blogger). By way of definition, I take “significant amount of time” to mean that I spent at least a day in that town and looking now at the assembled list, I realize that I actually spent at least a couple of days in each of these locales in 2008.

Ann Arbor, MI
Austin, TX
Baltimore, MD
Boston, MA
Chicago, IL
Detroit, MI
Las Vegas, NV
Milwaukee, WI
Montreal, QC, Canada
New York, NY
Philadelphia, PA
Pittsburgh, PA
San Francisco, CA
Washington, DC

Observations: while there’s only one international destination on this list, I did manage to see quite a bit of the Mid-Atlantic region this past year, logging time in each of the major metropolises between Boston and D.C. Also, the heavy Midwestern slant is to be expected, given that I hail from the Great Lakes region.
